Pastel Leopard Print Nails

I did this mani for the 52 week Challenge. You can find the link to that in the sidebar ---> The themes this week are "negative space" and "three pastels." I already completed the negative space mani, and since I just got a a mini set that contains a pastel blue, I decided to use that as a base.

I actually made my very first nail art video tutorial for this manicure, but I am trying to figure out how to splice two videos together to finish it so it can be published on YouTube. I am clueless! I have some research to do...

I think one turned out pretty good. It could have been more perfect, but it's hard to do your nails while recording! Such a weird angle to work at.

Leopard print is always fun to do. With this one I used two pastels colors to make the spots, Pure Ice "Love" and "Lacquered Lilacs." I combined the two colors for the middle spots. It was just a weird experiment, but it turned out pretty neat.

I topped it off with my Seche Vite fast drying top coat, and that was it.

Spring Purple Swatches

Just a simple post with a couple swatches, side by side.

The darker color is "Enchanting" by Revlon, about $5 at Walmart.

The lighter color is "Lacey Lilacs" by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear, about $2.50 at Walmart.

I have to be honest, I wouldn't recommend the Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear. At least not this color. The formula was sticky and thick and GLOOPY!. Ewww. It took forever to do dry, and when you accidentily bump it, it strings off like spider webs. 

The Revlon color was great to work with. It's also a beautiful spring shade. I love it. I definitely recommend it. 

The top coat that I am using now is Seche Vite. It works really well. Fast dry time, great shine. 

Lovely Lilac and Gold Tattoo Manicure

Ok, so this was a weird experiment, but I had to try it. I wasn't planning on adding the gold glitter polish tips, but when I applied top coat to the gold tattoo on my fingernail it made the color from the tattoo bleed! I was just dying to try out the metallic tattoos somehow.

I heard about other top coats that don't smudge like the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri that I'm using. I will have to check them out.

Ugh, and my glitter tips are so sloppy, but the baby was awake and I had ZERO time to think. I can touch up the tips later.

I got the metallic tattoos from Walmart in the jewelry department. I would wear them on my body, but it's not like I ever go anywhere! Maybe I'll save some for spring and summer.

Here's the colors I used. They are "Lacquered Lilacs" and "Studette" by Pure Ice. I love both of these polishes, but I especially love the lilac color. It's great after two coats and a nice shiny top coat. It really doesn't NEED any nail art at all.

So that's my crazy experiment. I learned a lesson or two, and will try again another time, Now I need to go touch up my tips...

31 Day Challenge, Day 2 "Tape Mani" ...Mint and Lilac Manicure

I joined Debbie Crumpets Crumpet's Nail Tarts 31 Day Challenge. I'm absolutely nuts, but I will try my hardest to complete it! Because we all know I have plenty of time for that. *insert sarcasm here*

My first mani of the challenge actually fits into three different categories, so I need to figure out which one I want to squeeze it into.

I'm not completely happy with how it turned out. My dotting kinda sucks. My first dotticure was amazing. This one? Not so much.

So here's what I came up with

MAJOR DOTTING FAIL!

Yeah, my dotting sucks so bad. I don't know what happened.

...but I love this feminine color combo so much.

Dot color - Pure Ice, Lacquered Lilacs

Stripe color - Salon Perfect nail art striper - Silver plated

Well, I'm reaching for the acetone and ready to strip this off and start planning my next design. Wish me luck...

A Colorful Christmas Glittercure

It's Christmas day and the presents have all been unwrapped, the hard work is done and the time to relax again has come! The house is still colorful and bright with ornaments and lights. I watched my children open their presents that were wrapped in beautiful, brightly colored wrapping paper...and I was inspired! After all, I'm a true glitter girl, through and through.

It was time to replace my green and red dotticure, and the glitter was calling.

This is why... Just look at how pretty these are!

For this manicure I used a light, pearly purple and a glitter polish that I bought recently, but hadn't used yet. They seemed like the perfect pair.

Please excuse the mess around my cuticles. That can always be cleaned up later. Once the base color was on I had to decide what to do...glitter gradient from the top or at the tips? I had never done one from the top, and this was the perfect opportunity.

I think it turned out quite lovely! I added three light mauve rhinestones to each ring finger just to doll up this look a bit.

I'm looking forward to going out shopping with my ladies tomorrow at the mall and rocking my Christmas present inspired nails that can easily be a New Year's Eve look as well. (but we all know I'll get inspired again before then)
